GOD WILL DO A NEW THING
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert”. Isaiah 43:19 (ESV)
“Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment”. (Prov. 13:23 KJV)
God wants to do a new thing with you and it is already in motion. However God needs something new from you too: because the scriptures says ‘new wine ought to be put in new wine skin’. God needs a new mind set from you; He needs a paradigm shift in your mind to be able to fulfill and manifest fully the new things He wants to do with you.
The scripture says there are two things that destroys God’s people
- Lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge”; Isaiah 5:13 – “Your nobles have become famished and they go to captivity because they lack knowledge” .
- Lack of understanding or discernment. Prov. 13:23. The person talked about here is poor not because he does not have but because he does not know. He has much with him but he does not recognize the much that he has with him.
The second is the focus here. Psalm 49:20 says ‘Man that is in honour and understand it not is like the beast of the field that perish”. Another translation says “Wealthy people do not understand they are like animals that perish, a man who has riches without understanding is like the animal that perish”.
So, lack of understanding or discernment particularly of what you have/ who you are will destroy you. It will make you struggle when you should be soaring. Why? Because you do not know that you have it or you interpret it as nothing.
God wants a change in how you see yourself, how we see what you have got, how you interpret what you have and until you see the change and interpret differently what you have got, who you have and who you are, God cannot take you to a new level of experience because as He is trying to take you up, you are locked up in a level of experience and that mind set keeps you down
In 2 Kings 4:1,2. A widow had a situation in her life and she goes to the man of God and presented her need. And he said “What do you have in your house?” Understand this: whatever God is going to do as a new in your life, He will start with what you have in your house. He is not going to bring a new thing from outside to make new thing happen. He is going to look at what you have in your hand that He can use to do the new thing.
The woman equated what she had to nothing. She said “I have nothing save this pot of oil…” So what she was saying is ‘I have this pot of oil, but it amounts to nothing, it cannot do me any good’ and that is the mindset that the average person has that is not allowing them to be able to break into something new. You equate your strength, talent, and little money in your hand as nothing. You however need to understand that for God to do anything in your life, to take you to a new ground or a new level of finances, He will begin with what you have in your hands right now.
When you equate what you have in your hands as nothing (and the Bible says God is able to add grace unto you) when grace comes on you and finds nothing; Grace multiplied by nothing is nothing. Because grace when it comes on you, comes on what you present, Paul said I am what I am by the grace of God nevertheless, I work, yet not I but the grace. What he is saying is ‘I present something for the grace to work with’. So when you keep seeing yourself as nothing; when you keep saying you are nothing; when you keep saying you have nothing to offer; Child of God what it ends up in is this: You will have nothing and that means God cannot take you to a new thing because there is nothing that He can work with.
