It is our belief in Christ Chapel that it is up to the Church to pray God’s will into the earth because Jesus says: “I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the Kingdom of heaven”. (Matthew 16:18-19). Jesus has given us the authority to release His will on earth through prayer.
Ps. 117:1, 2 “Praise God, everybody! Applaud God, all people! His love has taken over our live. God’s faithful ways are eternal. Hallelujah!’ MSG
I John 4:16 “… and we have known and believed the love that God hath for us…….”KJV
It is one thing to have the feeling and the knowledge that God loves you but it is another thing to take advantage of that knowledge. You need to consciously exercise your faith in this in your daily experience else it is not unlikely that you will fall in and out of the reality of a life that is covered by God’s love.
1John 4:16 makes us understand that we have to go beyond just knowing about God’s love but we must believe it. The Amplified translation says “…we know it so well, we have embraced it heart and soul, this love that comes from God….”
If God says He loves you child of God, believe Him and let Him just take care of you. When you believe in that love then you will understand what it means to rest in that love.
Love is a gift, the love of God towards us is a gift, and it is not something you can work for, it is not something you earn. When you do not believe in the love of God, then it means you have come to accept that what you get from God is a reward of your works.
“If you are a hard worker and you do a good job, you deserve your pay; we don’t call your wages a gift “Rm4:4 MSG. This means that whatever you get as a result of you working for it, is not a gift to you, it is earned, so, when you come to God based on what you’ve done, the prayer you said or the tithes you paid then you are rewarded based on your work and you cut yourself short of all that God’s love can and is willing to do for you.
When we came to know the love of God we accepted it as a gift at the instance of salvation “For by grace are we saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God” Eph.2:8 but, in further experiences with God, we want to get things by our works; if you find yourself doing so- approaching God on the basis of your work you are not operating in the love of God.
“But if you see that the job is too big for you , that it is something only God can do for you, and you trust Him to do it……” Rm. 4:5a then you are rewarded according to His love.
“No matter how long you work, you cannot get all you desire from God, that “trusting- him- to do-it is what sets you right with God, by God’s sheer gift” Rm. 4:5b
You cannot put the work you are doing before God – He does not expect us to come to Him based on the works we do but based on His love. When you look to the love of God, you are in a position to receive more from Him.
